Heading to Nationals

We finished preparing the trailers for our trip to the AOA Nationals in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Joy and Jacki Kraft are taking 20 alpacas to the show. We are looking forward to it as we haven't been to the Ft. Wayne venue in a while. Unfortunately, the weather hasn't exactly cooperated and most of our animals are not looking like show animals these days. Hopefully, in the next coming days they will all dry out and shake off the vegetable matter. Our barn will be down six alpacas after the show as we are also delivering some sold animals to Ft. Wayne for pickup by farms in Michigan and Tennessee. We are also delivering two alpacas locally the Monday after the show. Lots of things going on here at the farm this week. Looking forward to meeting up with everyone at the show.

Bigger Barn

Well, we are down 9 alpacas this week. Last Saturday 3 of our little boys went to Michigan. This week 3 moms and their babies went to their new home in Medina. Congratulations Nancy Irvine of Heavenly Haven Alpacas for getting her new farm set up and her alpacas moved in. Our barn is a little bigger today.

Three boys to a new farm

Well, we sold three of our little boys, Mick, Sir William and Torrac to a farm in Michigan. They are going to use them for 4H and other projects. I know they are going to a good home. All of our animals are like family and it is always and emotional time to see them go.

Our Bottle Baby

Well, for the first time in 7 years in the business, we have our first bottle baby. It was a difficult birth and the mom did not have much milk. We think the pain of it all made her reject the baby. She hasn't rejected her totally as they do still hang around together and Reign goes to her mom at night and stays beside her for warmth. So far, she is doing well. We have to feed every few hours and I have to get up very early in the morning. She is so cute when you go out with the bottle. You can tell that she appreciates our efforts. No something I wish on anyone and I hope she grows up to be a champion. She does have a nice fleece and is out of really good genetics. Here is a picture of Reign and Joy.
